Evelyn’s birth was well planned and prepared for. The goal was to have an unmedicated labor and birth, and to use the birthing pool while in labor. As labor grew more intense, the Mom decided that it was in her and her baby’s best interest to receive an epidural so that she could ease the tensions and get better rest.

I offered to show up before she got her epidural, and they took me up on that offer. I arrived earlier than I normally would, and stayed all night - sharing a hotel with the doula while Mom tried to sleep. This film and a small selection of their photos is a good representation of those 24ish hours spent with them.
